Paris in the 1920s ("Années Folles” – The Crazy Years) was a cultural magnet to creative people from around the world. Among those drawn to this artistic mecca were a variety of American expatriates including Gertrude Stein, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Cole Porter and Josephine Baker. There were also revolutionary Spanish artists such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, as well as the avante garde Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel.
